On Pemba Island, life for widows and orphans can be extremely challenging, marked by poverty, insecurity, and a lack of basic necessities. Our Rebuild Project took action after hearing the heartbreaking story of a widow raising six children alone, tragically losing two due to malnutrition and lack of basic essentials.
Her hardships escalated when she narrowly escaped an attack at night due to her insecure living conditions in a rural, unlit area. In response, Brother Suleiman rallied our community to raise funds, allowing us to build a sturdy, safe, and fully equipped home for her family. Constructed from brick and cement, the new home has transformed their living conditions, complete with running water, electricity, and a safe, secure environment.
To ensure long-term independence, we provided a popcorn machine, empowering her with a sustainable livelihood selling popcorn to local schools. This remarkable turnaround exemplifies the incredible impact achievable through your Zakat donations and ongoing generosity.
By rebuilding lives, one family at a time, we fulfill our collective duty, uniting as one body to uplift and restore dignity to those most in need.
This project directly saved lives, providing security, stability, and dignity to a widow and her children in desperate need. Through sustainable employment, the family now has regular income, nutrition, and education opportunities. Your Zakat and donations have made a transformative impact—changing their story from despair to hope, setting a precedent for future projects.
