For communities on Pemba Island, water scarcity isn't just an inconvenience—it's a daily struggle affecting health, education, and overall quality of life. Children often walk several miles daily to fetch water, limiting their time for education and exposing them to many risks. Recognizing this, ONEBODYHUMANITY initiated the Ummah Wells Project, dedicated to delivering sustainable clean water solutions where they're most needed.
In April 2023, we celebrated the completion of a water well in a rural village in Pemba. This project immediately alleviated the hardships faced by children and families who previously had to walk miles daily to gather water. The profound joy experienced by villagers upon seeing clean water readily available was incredibly heartwarming.
Building on this success, we further completed another well at a madrassa in March 2024, fully funding the necessary pump and pipe infrastructure. Students and staff at the madrassa now have direct access to clean water, significantly improving their quality of life, sanitation, and overall educational experience. These efforts were made possible by the generous contributions of donors like you, exemplifying the powerful impact of community and collective generosity.
By providing access to clean water, ONEBODYHUMANITY is changing the daily lives of entire communities. Our wells save countless hours that children once spent fetching water, freeing them to attend school and enjoy childhood. Health has improved dramatically, sanitation is enhanced, and the community’s happiness is tangible. Your generous donations directly enabled these transformative changes, demonstrating how together, we can build stronger, healthier, and happier communities.
